Tammy Nadene Hewey

HEWEY, Tammy Nadene, BA, B.Ed. - 35, 85 Majestic Ave., Beaver
Bank, passed away January 30, 1999, in the New Halifax
Infirmary, QEII, after losing her battle with cystic fibrosis.
Born in Pembroke, Ont., she was the beloved daughter of James
and Nancy (Pitcher) Hewey. Tam was a graduate of Sackville High
School where she took part in many activities. She was junior
champion archer for Nova Scotia Archery Team and took part in
the Canadian Nationals and the Canadian Summer Games of 1981.
She served a 2-year term on the National Cystic Fibrosis Board
and was a volunteer with the Dalhousie Dental School. She was
continuing her education in her current employment, as well as
having acquired a deep appreciation for history. She received
her BA degree at the University of Kings College and a B.Ed.
degree from Dalhousie University. She was an employee of Halifax
Seed Company and a substitute teacher for Halifax County for
several years. At the time of her death, she was employed with
the Nova Scotia Department of Health, revenue recovery, where
she had worked for the past six years. Besides her parents, she
is survived by brother, Sheldon and wife Laurie, Sudbury, Ont.;
maternal grandfather, Walter Pitcher, Bridgetown, Annapolis Co.;
paternal grandparents, Sam and Margaret Ruff, Millerton, N.B.;
favourite uncle, Dale Pitcher, Calgary; several aunts, uncles
and cousins. She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather,
James Hewey; maternal grandmother, Florence Pitcher. A memorial
service will be conducted at Atlantic Funeral Home, 125
Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, on Wednesday, February 3, at
1:30 p.m., James MacDonald officiating. No flowers by request.
